The beginning of a small town

Sharpsburg at one time was a big receiving center for tobacco and Waller Sharp was one of the largest independent buyers in the state, handling from one to three million pounds per year.

Other buyers were William Peed, L.S. Rogers and a Mr. Bramlett.

         Waller Sharp Tobacco warehouse. Today the Grace Gospel Church sits in this location.

Uncle Nate's Christmas fruit

Uncle Nate Jones wanted to make sure all the kids had a treat on Christmas Eve, so he would purchase apples, bananas and oranges from Eli Roberts Grocery Store. 

Uncle Nate would put Christmas decorations on his cart and fill it with all the fruit to deliver to the little kids in town.
